In summer 2001, I travelled in Ladakh and Rajastan with two friends. While we were walking in the mountains, I imagined a beautiful web site where the whole trip would be described in a hexametric epos...
But coming back, many other things became pseudo-important. Also, the stack of photographs is a frightening bulk. So, nothing happened for months.
Now, I have started in small steps. As a first step, I have prepared some pictures of people we saw and met.
It should be said aloud and clear that these pictures were not taken by me but by my companions, Wolfram Ette and Gernot Saalmann. Danke, Wolfram-san & Gernot-ji.
The central purpose of our trip was a hiking tour in the Himalaya in Ladakh. We walked eleven days from Hemis Gompa (a monastery close to the Indus valley) to Pang (a collection of food stalls where the Leh-Manali road meets the Zara Chu river); crossing three passes, Gongmaru La, Zalung Karpo La, and Yar La.
